What are we Learning Week Four?

Comprehension Skill: We are talking more about main idea and details. This is such an important skill and we revisit this skill multiple times throughout the year.
Example: I love swimming! In the summer I go swimming at least three times a week. It doesn't matter if it is in a pool or the lake. I just love to be moving in the water. In the winter, I can't go swimming in the lake but I can still go swimming at the YMCA.
What is the main idea of this paragraph?
(All about loving to go swimming.)

Language Conventions: This week we will be talking about declarative and interrogative sentences. Your second grader is used to calling them statements and questions. It might take them awhile to get used to using the new terminology but they should be able to tell you what makes an interrogative sentence an interrogative sentence? (What makes a question a question?)

Language Vocabulary: We are still working on putting words in alphabetical order. The struggle that many of my second graders are having right now is looking at the second or even the third letter to determine what word would come next in ABC order.

Again if you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!!!
